Each All-Inclusive Commercial Salmon Fishing Excursion includes:

  • 1 Non-resident 7 day commercial fishing license
  • 1 full day onboard vessel safety training
  • 6 Nights/5 Days meals, snacks and accomodations [1 bunk per person] on board the 1923 built wooden schooner fishing vessel Sunset
  • Individual hands-on instruction for setting, hauling and cleaning troll harvest wild salmon
  • Fish as much or as little as you’d like – we will do the rest
  • Departure from Sitka, Alaska and returning after 4 [24 hour] days at sea
  • 2 nights stay onboard in Sitka including the Friday night arrival date and the Wednesday night before departure date
  • Crewmember survival suits for safety drills and at sea emergency use are provided
  • Accidental injury and liability insurance up to $20,000 for each crewmember provided
  • Optional Gear Insurance available for any lost at sea gear provided at crewmember’s expense.
  • Custom blast-frozen sushi-grade salmon home pack up to 20 lbs included based on week’s harvest onboard during excursion.  Shipping costs and additional arrangements required and not included with Salmon Fishing Excursion Package .  Custom salmon pack may not be available in time to carry-on as checked baggage.  Individual salmon pack arrangements will vary based on the travel itinerary of each client.
  • Allergies and dietary restrictions are accommodated provided they have been disclosed at least 1 month in advance of the Salmon Fishing Excursion.
  • 5 Day/6 Night, Friday through Thursday, trips available June 7, 2019 through September 26, 2019.  It is your responsibility to confirm the dates and availability of your Salmon Fishing Excursion itinerary before purchasing airfare and/or additional travel arrangements. Special Considerations:

  • Medical Release or Waiver of Liability required – form available upon request
  • Airfare to and from Sitka, Alaska required – bookings and reservations available upon request
  • Water-proof rain gear required
  • Safety Drill Training requires donning immersion suit and entering the water
  • 4 available 7 ft by 2 ft bunks [berths] located in the vessel’s bow [forepeak] below deck
  • galley located in the forepeak below deck
  • bathroom [head] located in the vessel’s stern [aft deck]
  • Changes to the itinerary of the salmon fishing trip will be accommodated for emergencies only
  • Each Salmon Fishing Excursion includes a Friday arrival at 5pm and a departure on the next Thursday by 8 am.  Salmon home packs may be available for pick-up on the date of departure by 11 am.
  • Learn as much or a little as you’d like about fishing in the North Pacific including navigation, fishing regulations, ocean topography and more
  • All profits and proceeds from the sale of Salmon Fishing Excursions onboard f/V Sunset will contribute to  the cost of technology and structural upgrades necessary to continue the useful life of our historic 1923  schooner into the 21st century to be used for education and ocean adventure



  • Arrive Friday and procure crew member licenses (included with trip) and board vessel for first night at 5 pm. Snacks provided.  No dinner service.
  • Depart for fishing grounds at 5am Saturday morning
  • Saturday Morning Safety Drill Training after 7 am breakfast
  • Overnight onboard for 4 nights and 3-4 days daily fishing for wild North Pacific coho or king salmon
  • Wednesday off load the fish to the processor for custom packaging and/or sale of salmon
  • Thursday depart fishing vessel by 8 am and pick up salmon home packs at 11 am if available for carry-on in time for your flight


Menu Selections [daily menus will include limited selections from the list(s) below]

  • Breakfast – Vegetable egg frittata, yogurt, granola, fresh fruit platter, cottage cheese, assorted game sausages, and bagels with smoked salmon spread.  Juice, coffee, assorted teas and fresh water available.
  • Lunch – Bagels with smoked salmon spread, ceasar salad, assorted cheese and bread, pasta salad, and chowder
  • Dinner – Baked Salmon, Roasted Vegetables, Rattatoille, Stuffed Squash, Broiled Halibut, Kale Salad, Corn Bread Stuffing, Halibut Tacos, Rice, Prawns Scampi, Bruchetta, and/or Salmon Corn Chowder
  • Snacks – Almonds, peanuts, crudité, assorted cheese and crackers, coffee, juice, assorted teas and fresh water
  • Desserts – Cake with fresh fruit and whipped cream, chocolate mouse cake, and frozen fruit bars
  • Beverages – Tomato juice, green goddess Bolthouse Juice Blend, Domestic Beer, Domestic Chardonnay, and unsweetened Iced tea with lemon.
